Where to stay in Da Nang by area: My Khe Beach, Han River city centre and Son Tra, with nightly prices and how to pick for beach or nightlife.

4 min read Central Vietnam

Da Nang stretches along a 30 km coast between the Han River and the East Sea, so "where to stay" mostly means "how close to the beach". There are three useful bases: My Khe Beach for swimming and beach bars, the Han River city centre for markets, bridges and nightlife, and the Son Tra Peninsula for resorts and quiet. The airport is 10-15 minutes from all three, and Hoi An is 30-40 minutes south by car or Grab.

Which area is right for you

Da Nang stretches along a 30 km coast between the Han River and the East Sea, so “where to stay” mostly means “how close to the beach”.

My Khe Beach & An Thuong

My Khe is the classic beach stay: a long sandy strip lined with hotels and the An Thuong “food street” area behind it. Beachfront mid-range hotels run about $30-70 a night, with rooftop pools and sea views at the higher end. The beach is good for early-morning swims, and there are enough cafes and Western restaurants to fill a week. It is a 10-minute Grab ride from the city centre, so it suits beach-first travellers who do not mind taking a car to the market.

Han River city centre

The city centre around the Han River has the Dragon Bridge, Han Market, the cathedral and most nightlife. Hotels here run roughly $30-60 a night, often with river views, and you can walk to the food scene along Bach Dang. It is the best base if you want to be near restaurants, shopping and the weekend Dragon Bridge fire show, and it is a 15-20 minute ride to My Khe Beach when you want the sea.

Son Tra Peninsula

Son Tra (also called Monkey Mountain) is the quiet, green headland north-east of the city, home to InterContinental-level resorts and boutique hillside stays at roughly $80-250 a night. It is for people who want a resort holiday with jungle, private beach access and views back across the bay. You will need a car or Grab for everything; nothing here is walkable.

Frequently asked questions

Is it better to stay in Da Nang or Hoi An?

Stay in Da Nang for the beach, city nightlife and easy airport access; stay in Hoi An for the lantern-lit Ancient Town and tailoring. Da Nang to Hoi An is only 30-40 minutes by car, so many travellers split a trip four nights in Da Nang and three in Hoi An.

Which Da Nang beach area is best?

My Khe Beach is the most convenient: a long sandy strip with hotels, rooftop pools and the An Thuong food street behind it. It suits swimming, early walks and beach bars, and it is a 10-minute Grab ride from the city centre.

How much is a hotel in Da Nang per night?

Beachfront and city-centre mid-range hotels run about $30-70 a night; river-view city hotels about $30-60; Son Tra resorts $80-250. Prices were checked October 2026 and rise in the February to May high season.

Should I stay near the Dragon Bridge?

Yes, if you want markets, restaurants and the weekend Dragon Bridge fire and water show within walking distance. The Han River city centre is calmer for families than the beach bar strip in An Thuong, and it is only 15-20 minutes to the beach.

When is the best time to visit Da Nang?

February to May is the sweet spot: dry, warm and calm sea, ideal for swimming and Ba Na Hills. June to August is hot and busy with domestic tourists; September to December brings rain and occasional storms, so check the forecast before a beach trip.
